Thomas E. Jorden
Mr. Jorden is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Coterra, following his tenure at Cimarex Energy. At Cimarex, he began serving as Executive Vice President of Exploration when the company formed in 2002. In 2011, he became Chief Executive Officer and President of Cimarex and then Chairman of the Board in 2012.
Prior to the formation of Cimarex, Mr. Jorden held multiple leadership roles at Key Production Company, Inc., Cimarex’s predecessor. He joined Key in 1993 as Chief Geophysicist and would go on to become Executive Vice President of Exploration. Before joining Key, Mr. Jorden was with Union Pacific Resources and Superior Oil Company.
He is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines where he earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Geophysics.
Mr. Young is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Coterra.
Mr. Young has an extensive background in upstream energy, including substantial experience in leadership, strategic decision making, and transaction execution. Mr. Young began his career with nearly two decades as an investment banker and has been an upstream CFO for nearly the last decade.
Mr. Young holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Dartmouth College.
Stephen P. Bell
Mr. Bell is the Executive Vice President for Business Development at Coterra, following his tenure at Cimarex Energy. At Cimarex, he was appointed Senior Vice President of Business Development and Land in September 2002 and was named Executive Vice President of Business Development in September 2012.
Prior to its merger with Cimarex, Mr. Bell was with Key Production Company, Inc. He joined Key in 1994 as Vice President of Land and was appointed Senior Vice President of Business Development and Land in 1999.
Ms. Alexander is Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Coterra.
Ms. Alexander is a proven Human Resources leader with a history of building effective organizations and leading high-performing teams. She brings a wealth of experience from extensive corporate and consulting leadership.
Prior to joining Coterra, Ms. Alexander was Chief People Officer at Rent the Runway from 2021 to 2023. In addition, she was at McKinsey & Company from 2009 until 2021 in roles of increasing responsibility, including Associate Partner.
Ms. Alexander holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Blake Sirgo was promoted to Senior Vice President – Operations in October 2022. Mr. Sirgo has been with the Company since 2008, serving in various operations leadership positions in the Permian Basin and most recently as Vice President – Operations. He is responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Marketing, Production, and Drilling & Completion.
Mr. Sirgo is a graduate of The University of Texas with a mechanical engineering degree.
Mr. Vela was appointed Senior Vice President – General Counsel in 2023. Mr. Vela previously served in various capacities at Coterra and Cimarex Energy Co. beginning in 2005, including Vice President – General Counsel, Vice President – Assistant General Counsel, Chief Litigation Counsel and Corporate Counsel. Mr. Vela is a member of the Texas, Colorado, American, and Houston Hispanic Bar associations, as well as the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law.
He is a graduate of Wabash College and received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
Michael D. DeShazer
Mr. DeShazer is Vice President of Business Units for Coterra, following his tenure at Cimarex. Mr. DeShazer joined Cimarex in 2007, serving in various engineering and reservoir manager positions, as well as multiple leadership roles, including Technology Group Manager from 2016 to 2018 and Asset Evaluation Team Manager from 2018 to 2019. He was named Vice President of the Permian Business Unit in 2019.
Mr. DeShazer is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s of Energy Business from the University of Tulsa.
Gary J. Hlavinka
Mr. Hlavinka is Vice President – Marcellus Business Unit for Coterra, following his tenure with Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation. Since joining Cabot in 1989 he has served in engineering and management roles across the company’s operations, in multiple producing basins.
Mr. Hlavinka worked initially as a Facility Engineer and District Superintendent in the company’s West Virginia production operations, and subsequently as a Corporate Reservoir Engineer in Houston. In 2006 he was named West Region Engineering Manager for the Rocky Mountain and Mid-Continent operating areas, and in 2009 he was promoted to Regional Operations Manager for the North Region, with responsibility for Appalachian Basin operations and engineering. He was named Vice President – Marcellus Business Unit in 2022.
Mr. Hlavinka is a licensed Professional Engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Kevin W. Smith
Mr. Kevin Smith is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Coterra, following his tenure with Cimarex Energy. He began his career with Cimarex in 2007, serving in a number of technical and leadership roles including Director of Technology and Anadarko Exploration Region Manager. In September 2020, Mr. Smith assumed the role of Chief Engineer for Cimarex.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Tulsa where he earned a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering.
